Horny moment

Explanation: During Muhammed’s lifetime, in the early Muslim polity that would later become the Rashidun Caliphate jihad was obligatory for all able (edit: Muslim) men who didn’t have a valid excuse. Therefore, people who didn’t want to go would make up excuses to get permission to stay home. This is one such story reported in a Hadith:

The Messenger of Allah said to Al-Jadd bin Qays from Bani Salimah, “Would you like to fight the yellow ones (Romans) this year?*” He said, `O Allah’s Messenger! Give me permission (to remain behind) and do not cause Fitnah** for me. By Allah! My people know that there is not a man who is more fond of women than I. I fear that if I see the women of the yellow ones, I would not be patient.’ The Messenger of Allah turned away from him and said, “I give you permission.”

*The Muslims were preparing to pick a fight with the Byzantines in the Expedition of Tabuk. **Trial or source of misguidance.

It’s believed in Islam that the below verse was revealed in response to this:

And among them is he who says, “Permit me [to remain at home] and do not put me to trial.” Unquestionably, into trial they have fallen. And indeed, Hell will encompass the disbelievers.

7th century Coomer: “I would TOTALLY go to war, except that Graeco-Roman Byzantine-booty would have me questioning my loyalty to the Caliphate 😭”

Muhummad: “… I’m gonna need divine guidance for this one.”

Caliphate

Ah, yes, the zeroth successor of Muhammed: himself (Caliph means “successor,” so technically it only becomes a Caliphate after Muhammed dies).
