I wanted to post about this saga as it has unfolded, but between work, being sick as hell, and getting hit by the cat distribution system, I wasn’t able. So, here’s part one:

Today’s unexpectedly high temperatures on our front porch were brought about by a previously unknown weather phenomenon, “El Gato”.

One eye is present and assessing the situation. The other is on paid leave but left half an eyelid open in case of snacks. The blur is the speed of his disappointment.

The round black frames were adjusted by hand, as protocol requires. He now sees everything clearly, especially your mistakes.

We got a call from the local animal rescue. They needed help for the night, with 5 kittens, until they could be relocated to a more lasting foster family. We couldn’t have them linger because if a planned trip in a few weeks.

Yes, it’s a mess, just landed, this is the second day. Yes, those are race car bed sheets. Yes, I’m 37. I apologize for nothing.

Half white, half grey, one hundred percent unsure what is happening. The eyes are on but the brain is still installing. This unit runs on milk and vibes, please be patient with the render.

Polly is helping out at work today. She usually likes to spend her day outside but it’s supposed to be hot today!

The cat preemption rules seem to work as designed: an interruption (me taking a photo) aborts the cleaning process; the cat then services the interrupt first, and finally, after the interrupt handler finishes, it continues to clean itself where it left off.

One of our cats displaying almost all of his mixed toe beans. It looks inviting, yes, but don’t go in there because it’s a deathtrap…

My dummy waiting to steal my seat after I had finished breakfast. She sat there for 10 mins waiting.

He keeps coming around but gets scared off anytime we go near him. Looks a little thin like he could use a good meal. I’m going to keep trying every time we see him he stays a little longer.

The device is a DIY LoRa transceiver (868 MHz) in a disposable vape enclosure. It was not designed to be operated by a cat, but the cat does not seem to care about that.

Grace is doing great on the Prednisone. She is about as wobbly as she should be for this age. But she has a bit more rolly than she should.

His name’s Luxor!

Cats aren’t supposed to sleep like this, right? Apparently, the cat rulebook does not apply to this particular cat.

Still, she basically puts up with it with good, albeit furious, grace.

I know my floor is dirty

I got a call about this girl yesterday. She had some obvious problems. Her inner eyelids are bloodshot. She can’t walk well because of a spinal issue. A vet visit determined that the best option for right now is a week of steroids. Then we’re going to see if there’s another step after that.
